What is e-proofing?
At The Design Mechanics you will receive your design work as an e-proof.
An e-proof is simply a jpeg picture that we can email to you saving on printing, time and postage - a saving we pass on to our customers!
Why might my printed material not look the same as my e-proof?
- Computer monitors display images using red, blue and green light which gives a strong, vivid look to colours and photographs. Printed material uses cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink meaning that colours and images often print more muted than you can see on your computer monitor. Strong, vibrant colours can be very hard to replicate in printed material without using specialist inks.
- Settings on computer monitors vary widely. The same image can look different on different screens and settings: New flat-screen monitors boost colour saturation whilst older monitors can give a more washed-out appearance to an image. The "colour temperature" of a monitor can also effect how an image appears onscreen. For example on one computer a colour can look blue, on another monitor the same colour can appear more purple.
- The type of paper your design is printed on can also change how your design looks. For example letterhead paper isn't as bright as business card stock, so the same image printed on both papers will look different.
If in any doubt - order a printed proof to ensure you are happy!
